Using a backpack rather than a tote bag would make this type of travel easier. I know this is going to sound arrogant, but this incredible leather tote really looks better than those large canvas backpacks.
I've been enjoying pushing myself to travel abroad with a tote bag, and I always get praises on it. Its compact size makes it simple to carry through crowded spaces without running into anyone. Taking everything out of my tote bag when I arrive at my destination and using it as an extra, optional purse is another benefit of packing in a tote bag.
To be honest, I haven't had any problems travelling with the tote bag, but it wasn't made with travel bags in mind. It was intended to be used as a tote in daily life. The best way to use it for travel is as a carry-on bag.
